An inherent error in logic?

I've heard there is a contradiction in the basis axioms of logic. Wherever I search, I'm faced with pages of symbols and jargon I've never heard of, nor understand. My expertise in formal logic is weak, but, could somebody confirm this error for me, and explain, in layman's terms, what this error is? Thanks in advance.
