Is it possible to get a grungy/metal sound w/ my peavey stereo chorus 212 without an added petal? if so, how?

peavy is known more for a twangy high end type of amp. i have a 5150 Eddie sig and it don't sound that good just cleaner. i also have a Marshall jcm88 lead 100wt head and that screams. i don't think you can get much chunk out of the peavy.
