Does all cartilage feel the same when pierced?

i have 3 cartilage piercings in one ear and an industrial in the other. it seems that the higher up the less painful..(its still painful though) but above the lobe like in the middle hurts quite a bit more than the top. The person that pierced my ear warned me that it would hurt more in the middle as well. but it all depends on your pain tolerance.
